Connection Between Research Paper and Project

I chose this project because it truly represents who I am and who I’ve become over the years. From an early age, I was the voice for my parents, translating for them, helping them navigate systems, and speaking up when they couldn’t. As I grew older, I found myself stepping into that role for many others in the same situation as my parents, people who knew little to no English and needed someone to guide them. That experience shaped me into someone who cares deeply about helping others, especially immigrants trying to find their place in a new world.
Being at SLC opened my eyes even more. It showed me that there are still people out there who are willing to give their time, energy, and support without expecting anything in return. People who care enough to show up and help others just because it's the right thing to do. That’s what inspired me to focus my research on the role of community programs in immigrant education and integration. Through my research, I learned that these programs go far beyond just helping individuals; they help build stronger, more connected communities. The time and effort put in by volunteers and organizations not only change individual lives but also improve society as a whole. They bring people together, lift others up, and create a more welcoming world for everyone.
